First meeting at a cafe next week. Who is supposed to pay?

Finally meeting a girl one-on-one at a cafe, no families. Small thing stressing me out: do I just pay, do we split, does offering to pay look controlling, does splitting look stingy? I know it sounds trivial but first impressions matter and I do not want to get the vibe wrong in the first 20 mins. What actually lands well these days? Genuinely asking.
